The cause of Covid 19 is the Sars Cov-2 virus. A virus is a microscopic entity which may cause infection and that cannot replicate on its own, but can replicate after entering the cells of other living things.Sars-Cov-2 is a coronavirus. Coronaviruses are from the Coronaviridae family. In daily life, coronaviruses are viruses that usually cause upper respiratory tract infections or common cold and cause clinically mild diseases.

While an individual infected with Sars-Cov-2 virus coughing, sneezing, or talking, etc., He or she releases small particles and droplets containing the virus. into the ambient air. These particles or droplets containing the virus can be inhaled by other people and thus these individuals can be infected.Airborne transmisson is the main mode of transmission of the Sars-Cov-2 virus.

A significant proportion of individuals infected with the Sars-Cov-2 virus do not show any signs of illness. There is a wide variety of symptoms ranging from mild disease symptoms to severe disease symptoms in patients with Covid-19 who show signs of illness.

The main problem seen in Covid-19 is lung involvement. Lung involvement means Covid-19 pneumonia. In a significant proportion of patients with Covid-19 pneumonia, the process results in recovery without any significant problems in the lungs. In a relatively small number of patients, involvement of the lungs (pneumonia) becomes widespread and severe respiratory failure may occur.

There is no Sars Cov-2 virus-specific drug that completely cures the disease in patients with Covid 19.Monoclonal antibodies have been shown to be useful in the early stages of the disease. Hospitalized patients may benefit from treatments including blood thinners, cortisone therapy, and oxygen therapy as well as supportive therapy that includes proper hydration (fluid balance) and vitamins.

Coronavac (Sinovac) is an inactivated virus vaccine.

The virus is replicated in cell cultures and then chemically inactivated.

(Sars-Cov-2 virus produced/replicated in Vero cells is condensed, purified after chemical inactivation with β-propiolactone, and then passed through a series of processes to become an inactivated vaccine.)

This vaccine does not contain an intact virus, it contains many different parts of the virus.

In individuals administered virus fragments with the Coronavac (Sinovac) vaccine, the virus fragments are considered foreign to the body. The body takes action to protect itself against these foreign substances and creates immunity against virus fragments. In this way, immunity against Sars-Cov-2 virus is formed in individuals who have been vaccinated with Coronavac (Sinovac).

In the inactivated vaccine, there are other antigens of the virus as well as spike protein antigens.

Since there is no virus in the inactivated vaccine, it does not cause a viral disease.

After this vaccine is administered, mainly humoral immunity (immunity with antibody production) is formed against the antigens in the vaccine.

There is little or no cellular immunity (absence of antibodies, predominant macrophage and T-cell immunity) against inactivated vaccines.

According to the results of the phase 1/2 clinical study, it was reported that individuals who received the Coronovac vaccine had lower levels of antibody production compared to the antibody levels formed in individuals who had had Covid-19 disease.

The protection of Coronavac against infection with the original Sars-Cov-2 virus (the Sars-Cov-2 virus without significant mutation) was reported between 50.7% and 84%. profdromerdeniz.com

In individuals administered the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, the individual’s own body cells produce part of the virus. This part of the virus, which is produced in abundance in the body, is considered as a foreign substance by the body, although it is produced in the person’s own body. The body takes action to protect itself against these foreign substances and creates immunity. This immunity is against an important part of the virus because the virus can enter human cells with this part. With this immunity, the virus can be prevented from entering human cells.

The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, an mRNA vaccine, carries the code for the receptor binding domain antigen of the spike protein of Sars Cov-2 virus.

The vaccine consists of modified mRNA that carries the code for the spike protein receptor binding domain antigen roughly surrounded by lipid nanoparticles.

After the vaccine is administered, the vaccinated individual’s own cells produce the receptor binding site antigen of the spike protein of Sars Cov-2 virus.

This antigen is not a virus, just a small part of the virus. Therefore, it does not cause a viral disease.

However, since it is a foreign substance to the human body, both humoral immunity and cellular immunity are formed against this antigen.

Since mRNA itself is recognized as a pathogen by cells, it stimulates strong immunity.

It has been reported that Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine administered as 2 doses prevents Covid-19 infection caused by the original Sars-Cov-2 virus (with no significant mutations) by 95% in individuals aged 16 years and older who have not been infected with Sars-Cov-2 virus before. profdromerdeniz.com
